Procession: A Path: Jesse Norman

The artists whom I really badly wanted to attend their performance but couldn't was:

Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli

I bought three tickets.

All were cancelled……

The one I had a chance but chose not to go to was:

Luciano Pavarotti.

I sometimes regret my decision.

Sergio Celibidache

I was so lucky to attend his last master class in France.

But I couldn’t go to his live performance.

He left this planet before I could catch him.

I learned one of the most precious lessons from him while curiously sitting in his master class during that memorable hot summer.

I will write about him one day.

Jesse Norman.

I went to her concert once in Paris.

It was her solo recital, and I wish I had been able to see her performing in opera.

Roots: My Life, My Music is her late years recording. (I think)

Most of the repertoires on this album are not classical music, and she showed the depth of her artistry.

Her performance on this album is filled with the true joy of music and her conclusion about what music is for her and everyone else.

I hear she says that all music is equally beautiful, and it’s meaningless to be overly persistent in one style, ignoring the meanings of each.

Her voice was talking to me softly, warmly, passionately, and decisively.

It is amazing to see her breathing life into any music.

The short summer in Canada is about to end.

I was sitting in my backyard and listening to her voice.

This is one of my favourite albums in my collection.

I have heard it so many times, yet each time I listen, a different piece captures my attention.

Today, it was Another Man Done Gone.

The grim tone of the drum that keeps heavy marching rhythms is surely the sorrowful dragging footsteps of a funeral.

I felt like I was being sucked into an invisible black hole.

Something triggered me. A word, "procession," came to mind.

It probably has nothing to do with funerals.

Her voice sounds strong and brave.

The truth of history exists in our daily lives, in our lives, and in our deaths.

Some pieces in this album was live recoded in Berlin, Munich and Frankfurt.

The program line-up is well composed.

I don't see there is a single political message here, but her message was spoken with a quiet, soft, deep voice.

This is the power of art, an ultimate goal that leads us to wherever we want to be.

That is why whenever questioning the rightness of the title of Debussy’s Golliwogg’s Cakewalk comes up repeatedly, I get confused.

The danger of a cancel-culture that erases all our mistakes from the past shouldn’t be ignored. Because the only way to reach mutual agreement is by acknowledging our mistakes. We have to face it.

Pretending it didn’t happen won’t cultivate anything in the future.

Let's go back to music.

Good things are good.

Just so it.

In my backyard, tree leaves rustled.

Her voice mixed with it, and I’m feeling so good.

My heart and body are absorbing her music.

The band members on this album are all uber excellent.

Maybe Jesse Norman's name power made this gig possible.

But so?

All performances sound vibrant.

The music flowed naturally, without flattery.

They enjoy being in it.

Their free spirit getting into music is very strong!
