Studio Policy Summary

MDA Piano Academy

At MDA Piano Academy, piano lessons are approached as a process of learning rather than a race toward results. Each student develops at a different pace, and lessons are shaped with care for individual readiness, coordination, and musical understanding.

Learning is not limited to playing the piano itself. Listening, observing, sensing movement, and understanding how sound is produced are considered essential parts of musical growth. Body awareness, perception, and sound are treated as interconnected elements rather than separate skills.

This approach supports long-term development, healthy technique, and a deeper relationship with music. It may not suit every learning style, and families are encouraged to take time to consider whether this philosophy aligns with their expectations.

Lesson Structure & Commitment

Enrollment at MDA Piano Academy reserves a consistent weekly lesson time during the academic year (September through June). Lessons are designed to support continuity and steady progress rather than short-term outcomes.

The studio calendar includes built-in flexibility across the year. This allows for occasional absences while maintaining consistency in instruction. While reasonable efforts are made to accommodate missed lessons, the structure is not based on unlimited make-ups.

July and August are offered separately as a flexible Summer Semester, with optional enrollment.

Tuition Philosophy

Tuition is based on enrollment rather than attendance and is not calculated on a per-lesson basis. It reflects participation in a structured learning program that includes reserved lesson time, planning, preparation, and ongoing communication.

Rather than focusing on lesson counts alone, tuition supports a balanced framework that allows students to learn with consistency while accommodating the realities of family life.

Partnership with Families

Musical learning is most successful when it is supported collaboratively. Lessons provide essential guidance, while playing at home allows students to explore, reflect, and integrate what they are learning.

Parents are encouraged to take an active but supportive role by listening, inviting their child to share music, and creating a positive environment around practice, without directing or correcting every detail.

Transparency & Next Steps

A detailed studio policy outlining scheduling, attendance, tuition, and other terms is shared with all families prior to registration. This ensures clarity and mutual understanding before lessons begin.

Families are always welcome to ask questions and take time to decide whether this learning environment is the right fit.

For families who would like to review there complete details, the full studio policy is available here:
